Newt was an MEHS Alum who liked to roam. Celebrate his adventurous spirit with a scenic 11.5-mile loop along the MCT Goshen, Heritage, and Nickel Plate Trails on October 17th! You'll pass by Newt's memorial bench & statue while being surrounded by the love and community that he fostered.

In October 2024, in partnership with MCT Trails and Metro East Park and Recreation District, we hosted the first ever Newt Scoot and placed a permanent bench in his favorite napping spot in his honor with your support. We had over 250 riders for the inaugural ride, and we can't wait to see the MCT trails filled with orange once again in his memory.
Early registration will open Summer 2026 and include a Newt Scoot 2026 t-shirt & swag from sponsors. Day-of registration will be available, but does not guarantee a shirt!
