Let us lift our hearts, open our minds and raise our spirits.

Gracious and Loving God, Mother, Father, Protector, Divine Spirit. Creator of all, we give thanks.

We give thanks for this beautiful day and for the opportunity to gather together in the spirit of love and compassion – for not just each other - but for all living creatures.

Bless those whose untiring efforts have created this event and whose devotion continues the work of rescuing and fostering all creatures in need. 

We give thanks for the resources that are generously given so that the Metro East Humane Society can maintain and continue its high quality of commitment for animals under its care.

Bless those who dedicate their lives to the improved treatment of animals all over the world.  Renew their spirit and give them sustaining strength and continued commitment.

We give thanks for the benefits we reap because of their determination and dedication.

Bless those who educate and enlightened us.  Provide them with unlimited resources to continue their search and study.  

Bless those who legislate on behalf of those who have no voice.  Give them wisdom and courage to stand undaunted before opponents.  Bless all animal lovers who in small ways each day make a big difference in the world around them.  Give them the satisfaction of knowing that they do have an impact.

We give thanks for the flame of selfless dedication of all volunteers - dedication that is fueled by kindness, compassion and love.  May that source never be extinguished.

Bless all the animals that have been abandoned, mistreated or forgotten.  Bless them in their time of need and give them comfort and relief.

Bless our pets, here today, at home and those that have passed on.  Bless them for their unconditional love and gentle spirits.  Bless them for their unquestioning companionship and unfailing loyalty.  Bless them for how they expand our capacity to love as well as to forgive.  Bless them for being pure of heart and innocent of intention.

We give thanks and know the many blessings we receive by their presence in our lives.  It is with deep gratitude that we are here this morning to share this day.  Thank you.
